my dad used to have big like 50-60LBS bags of fertilizer for his garden in
my backyard, they worked very well even once you start opening big holes in
one side, you can just flip it over.

One other cheap (read >free< in most places) go to a pool/spa store. They
replace hot tub covers (the thick high-density expanded polystyrene kind)
and come in a variety of sizes. (Free, you don't get a big selection, they
have what you see.) Stack three or four to make it thick. First thousand
arrows will penetrate the depth of your hand (Fingertip to heel of your
hand. I cover it this way to avoid meter-centimetre/foot-inch confusion).
I had one that stood up to almost 5k arrows (About 2 months for me) before
I began to chew through the plywood in back.
(Safety backup) I use bottle caps at 30 paces with a recurve, no rest, no
sights and the backstop works very well. When they wear out, flip them
over, or move the target area around. If you get an 8×8 cover, it folds in
half of 4×8 and stops most all you would need. Wears out? Flip it. Wears
out there? Throw it out and drive to the back of the pool store again and
pick up a few more. Cost of gas then.

To make this way easier, you could have used a projector. Project the elk
on your plywood, size to your liking and.trace directly onto the.wood. it
saves a whole lot of time!

I have never seen sugar cane mulch here in the NE US. and I would like to
know who I could buy some of the feedbag material from without finding a
    farm.
