First of all, Lars Andersen refers to the arrow placement on the left side,
not the hand you pull with. He is saying that you place the arrow on the
other side of where you normal shoot with. Secondly, He refers to the Back
Quiver Technique. It is a myth that they use the back quiver technique
(Dagger Style) as a practical speed shooting technique because archers can
simply shoot off the string hand. Even the Mongolians/Nomads used belt
quivers when in combat. Back quivers where used to store arrows. Lars
Andersen is simply popularizing speed archery, a topic not known by many
    people.
The technique is not trick shooting. You are defining it as trick shooting
because you are still denying the existence of speed archery. Speed Archery
was a practical technique used back in history. Speed Archery, while may be
less popular in the military, where they don’t want to waste ammunition,
but it always had it’s own niche in self defence. (That being said, in the
ancient world) The effect of the Archer’s paradox on the arrow is not
significant at close range. The technique is not the technique for long
range accurate shooting, I understand, but for close quarters unarmoured
units, it is the best archery technique. This technique has it’s own niche
in the world of archery. Each technique has their own advantage and
    disadvantage.
I disagree with you that it is not a new level of archery, This is a
reinvention that will affect the mainstream media culture. making speed
archery the direction of being poplar in mainstream culture.

I have friends who make English long bows and make arrows historically a
notch with a gap like that can be made but you have to find the right
    person to do it.

This technique is even possible with normal knocks, It’s a lot slower than
normal “speed” archery due to having to knock each arrow firmly before
firing, but you can still fire faster simply by having the arrows ready and
by firing from the left side of the bow.

Dude, that video makes extremely good points. Moreover, you have have never
responded to being called out for using a pinch grip when you shoot.
Where’s your thumb ring? That pinch grip is pretty much worthless on
    warbows.

“The effect of the Archer’s paradox on the arrow is not significant at
close range.” It’s visible and readily apparent at point blank range when
you use a Mediterranean grip on the incorrect side, or vice versa with a
thumb ring on its respective incorrect side. The only way you get away with
what you’re doing is by using a pinch grip, which depends completely on
    friction.

One other issue that I have yet to see “speed shooters” address is the
holding of the arrows by the nocks. Modern arrows tend to have a really low
FOC (percent of mass forward of center). Hunting and military arrows tended
to actually have a very high FOC, as it improves penetration significantly.
This is born out by both archaeology and by modern scientific
experimentation on big game animals (Ed Ashby, etc). When you hold such
front heavy arrows by the nocks, especially lots of them, that’s a lot of
collective weight on the points with a lot of leverage, and you’re holding
them in a way that’s not exactly strong. Moreover, it’s a bit of a safety
hazard considering you could accidentally stab you, your horse, or your
    buddy in the face.

Lastly, if you look at the historical pictures that Lars uses to support
his argument, they are actually holding arrows in the drawing hand by the
POINTS. That has the weight of the arrow fully under control. If you watch
videos of people recreating Turkish archery, you can see them using this
method to have another arrow at the ready. It’s not as fast as by the
nocks, but it’s much more practical.

Tell you what you and that other idiot Lars can be on one team with your
retarded speed shooting gimmicky bullshit. I will be on the other team with
the traditional archery hunting skills that have taken me a lifetime the
perfect. We can got in the woods and I can hunt and kill you both. Have a
    nice day.

Lars has a very respectable level of skill in his style of archery, and I
could easily see his style used in skirmishing tactics, but I hate how he
demeans and lies about modern archery and european historical archery.

You could make wide mouth nocks which click when you have them fully home,
    and use conventional technique.
