From the way I have been taught and from what I have seen hooking the
finger over the arrow is only really suitable to simply hold the arrow when
relaxed, not in the full draw position as shown on the posters. But then
again from the footage it’s clear she is using a low weight bow so maybe
    its fine…

I’m always out with my bow and arrow, but am I the only one that can’t
stand the bows used in the olympics, how many strings do you need!? I’m
only 10 and I made, carved and engraved my own bow and arrow an can shoot
pretty well, to anyone who hasn’t tried archery, do it, and make our own !

I’m glad they had Lawrence trained so she wouldn’t teach copycats bad
technique. Good job on your acting Jennifer you play Katniss just as I
    imagined her.

Jenifer’s hold on the bow is to vertical and actually blew the whole movie
for me. She would have missed every try with her vertical hold.

With all due respect to her very talented coach, someone like the well
known Byron Ferguson would have been a more appropriate trainer for the
    film (which I thoroughly enjoyed).

Savage495, now I grew up around guns and very very limited long bows for
just target practice so I may be uneducated. Is there really iron sights on
long bows? I’ve never seen them

+savage495 No they don’t use compound bows in the olympics. Please research
a little before posting random shit. They use Recurve Bows. And they’re not
pussies. It doesnt matter if you shoot a long bow, recurve bow or compound
bow, because your enemies have the same type of bow that you have. So it
all goes down to how well you shoot it. Idiot.

She should have been taught traditional style archery for the movie , as
she was a low class hunter not a competitive style recurve archer !

Guys she probably doesn’t have the correct technique in the movies and the
posters because of the camera angles

I’m so jealous cuz the archery team at my school had a private lesson from
khatuna lorig and got to meet her. I could’ve met her but I couldn’t join
the team earlier in the year :( that’s the closest I could’ve gotten to
meeting TGE woman that TAUGHT jennifer lawrence for the hunger games, my
favorite books and movie series ;(

She has the wrong technique for a “traditional” archer. It was a bad idea
to have an Olympic archer to train her. They needed a traditional archer
to train her. You do not hold a traditional bow straight up and down. If
you do, you’re doing it wrong.

It does bug me to no end how she has the wrong stance for field shooting.
What a big thing to get wrong. Most people won’t notice, but honestly.
Target shooting and hunting are different styles.
